What changes did the arrival of cinema bring to photography back then? How has the moving image influenced our relationship with the still image and vice versa: is there such a thing as a cinematic vision in photography? On the one hand, the recurrence of many close-ups, freeze frames, or even specific photographs on the screen implies a constant link between the photographer’s and the filmmaker’s practices. On the other hand, the greats of staged photography often only say about their work that they make films that consist of only one frame. Where are we now in this more than one-hundred-and-thirty-year-old story, in which photography and cinema inspire each other back and forth?
